The History
Tour Support Services, LLC began in 2005. The mission was to provide quality musical equipment, transportation and logistical services to John Kay & Steppenwolf. During those touring years, it had become very difficult for the promoters to find quality backline vendors that could fulfill the band’s “fly date” needs without substitutions, especially in secondary markets. Because of this frustration by the artist and crew, Tour Support Services was started to fulfill the need of the band in the backline department for their live performances.
At that time, two sets of musical equipment were purchased per the “John Kay & Steppenwolf” rider requirements as well as two trucks by Tour Support Services, LLC. Truck #1, along with it’s corresponding equipment, was warehoused in Las Vegas, NV and was assigned to cover the west coast of the US and Canadian show dates. Truck #2 and equipment was warehoused in Nashville, TN and handled the central and east coast of the US and Canadian show dates. The idea was simple. Multiple trucks with multiple equipment allocations, in multiple places, allowed the client to perform with confidence with the gear they wanted with no substitutions. In addition, the services provided saved money for the artist at the airport as they didn’t have to check any musical equipment as excess baggage under the plane, literally saving thousands of dollars over the years in show expenses. The promoter was satisfied as they didn’t have to worry about providing the backline equipment for the act per the contract agreement. These assets, along with equipment requirements purchased for Nashville performing artist’s “John Stone” and “John Angotti”, became the bulk inventory of the company. Over time, a larger third truck, along with sound and lighting packages was added to complete the production services.

To date, Tour Support Services celebrates 15 years of service to the concert touring industry. Our success is based on the fundamental concept of dedication to the touring artist. We strive to provide the best experience and professional support for the client, either in the office or on the road.
